The University of Arkansas went through four coaches in seven years before Francis Schmidt arrived from Nebraska in time for the 1922 season. Order was restored. The Hogs were 42-20-3 during Schmidt's seven years at the helm. Schmidt's best year was 1927 when George Cole, Glen Rose and Schoonover, (with the help of our very own "Price Fondren"), helped lead the Hogs to an 8-1 finish. After the '28 Razorbacks went 7-2 and Garland 'Bevo' Beavers was named most valuable player in the SWC, Schmidt left to become head coach at TCU. Jimmie Fondren is the 13th player from the left standing above the "SA" in the picture title.
