The Roberson-Seaton Family

You can search more about the extended family at Family Line Search. If your family history has roots in Crawford and Harrison Counties then you may want to look through our available information elsewhere on this website.

Those interested in Yates and Roberson families know that both of these families migrated in the early 1800's from Barren County, KY eventually to Crawford County, IN. Two Roberson brothers married Barren County, Kentucky Yates sisters. Daniel and Esther Roberson paused or lived in Meade County at some point in this migration as their youngest child, Samuel was born in 1821. Daniel Roberson died and was reported as being buried in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Daniel's widow, Esther with Benjamin & Sarah Roberson and children concluded their migration to Crawford County, Indiana. The pieces are still being pieced together but it would appear that Daniel's family primarily resided in the English, IN area and Benjamin and Sarah Yates Roberson resided in the Grantsburg, IN area.

As a result of longevity, many families have merged creating close ties. Some of the oldest names which merged are Yates, Roberson, Seaton, Denbo, Curl, Laswell, Ott, Clingman, Bell, Baughman, Benham, Burton, Froman, Hedden, Landiss, Stepro. All spelling and derivation of the name Roberson should be considered, particularly if you hail from these counties.

Sycamore Springs Park

The park is open to individuals and social, civic and religious groups for recreational and educational purposes. It is a beautiful 250 acre farm just outside of English, Indiana, with a long and documented history. We have created an environmentally protected, natural resource that youth and adults alike can enjoy. The abundant wild life, native to this area, makes any trip here enjoyable and educational and gives groups a chance to explore the beauty of nature.

The park has picnic areas with tables, benches and camping areas with electricity and running water. At present there are three shelter houses in the park. These may be reserved for your group. A wedding chapel is under construction. The park is seasonal and opens fully on May 1 each year and closes on November 1. All facilities are open for these six months.
