 | Dr. Henry William Clements When Lanier County was cut out of Berrien, H.W. Clements and others tried to stop the first election of officers in the newly created county. His attempts to get a court injunction to stop the election failed, and the election was held as scheduled on the first Wednesday in December 1920. H.W. Clements then pursued the suit all the way to the Supreme Court of Georgia. The court ruled that any decision was moot since the election had been held and the case was dismissed.
