1		Blakeney Family Ireland. The probable birthplace of the progenitor, John Blakeney, was Northern Ireland, the land of those known as Scots-Irish who were protestants. He came to Colonial Pennsylvania before 1776. Pennsylvania. Several sources prove our progenitor Blakeney family emanated from south-central Pennsylvania, among them the Revolutionary War records of progenitor John Blakeney found in the Archives of the State of Pennsylvania and available on the Internet. Most of the Revolutionary War records for John state the county as Cumberland which is probably today Adams County, the seat of which is Gettysburg. 2		Blakeney of County Limerick. This is the Blakeney line centered in South Carolina best recognized as being the line of Capt. John Blakeney. The Blakeney family cemetery along with the Capt. is located in Pageland, SC. It is a distinct and different line of Blakeney from those who ventured through MD, PA, Bourbon Co., KY and on to Vermilion Co., IL.	John T. Blakeney, Sr.
3		Blakeney of Galway. This is the Blakeney line centered on those who likely hailed from Galway County, Ireland and ventured through MD, PA, Bourbon Co., KY and on to Vermilion Co., IL. 4		Cecil Co., Maryland Yates Research The Cecil Co., MD Historical Society researched its available records and did not find clear evidence of a John Yates presence. Esther Ada Yates the 2nd child of John Yates has been noted as being born in Cecil Co., Maryland. The 1st child of John Yates, his son Robert Yates has been noted as being born in Barren Co., Kentucky in 1783. Barren Co., in 1785 was still a County in Virginia as Kentucky Statehood was in 1792. It has seemed odd that one child would be born in Barren in 1783 then Esther born in 1785 back in Cecil Co., MD. John Yates, Jr. is noted as being born in Kentucky in 1790.
